History of the KKK
In the 1920’s the KKK was a really big deal, they killed about every single black person they saw. They tortured them sometimes, brought them to concentration camps and other horrible things. The KKK wore white hoods and the clothing was like a robe that went down to their feet. The leader of the Klu Klux Klan was Hiram Wesley Evans. This organization was really violent. They burnt churches of all black population raped, murdered and even castrated blacks.

The blacks tried to fight back in non-violent ways but it didn’t really work. Lots of blacks started going back to Africa this was called the “Back to Africa” movement. This movement was for them to go back to Africa and not come back. This movement started from a man named Marcus Garvey. Although he started this is quickly ended after he was arrested for fraud. Once he was arrested no body went back to Africa all blacks stayed. Some punishments of being caught we’re being tortured, branded, or whipped sometimes just killed. Some blacks even got hung by their tongue and we’re flown over a country and back. Everyone was scared of the KKK.
